Hyundae Trade Motors Co., Ltd. Conducts Environmental Cleanup Activity at Sammok Harbor, Incheon
Report from Hyundae Trade Motors Co., Ltd.
— Continuing Efforts Toward Marine Environmental Protection and a Sustainable Future
Hyundae Trade Motors Co., Ltd., the official importer and distributor of Yamaha outboard motors in Korea, recently carried out an environmental cleanup activity at Sammok Harbor located in Incheon’s Yeongjong Island area.
Sammok Harbor is one of the most popular coastal destinations near the Seoul metropolitan area, widely visited by anglers and tourists. The harbor is especially well known for shore fishing and recreational offshore fishing trips, attracting large numbers of visitors throughout weekends and holidays.
As visitor traffic continues to increase, various types of waste such as fishing-related trash, plastic packaging, disposable items, and abandoned debris are often left around the harbor area, creating an ongoing need for environmental maintenance and cleanup efforts.
To help preserve the local marine environment and promote a cleaner harbor culture, Hyundae Trade Motors organized a company-wide cleanup activity involving every member of its staff. The company maintains a principle that all employees participate in volunteer environmental activities without exception, making such initiatives part of its corporate culture rather than one-time events.
During the activity, employees collected litter and waste from roadsides, breakwaters, docks, and surrounding harbor areas, including plastics, fishing waste, and general trash left behind by visitors.
Hyundae Trade Motors also shares Yamaha Motor’s global commitment to carbon reduction, sustainable outboard business practices, and marine environmental protection. The company continues to place strong emphasis on protecting oceans and waterways while supporting the responsible growth of marine leisure culture.
As Korea is a nation surrounded by the sea on three sides, and with many popular water leisure destinations such as the Han River, Gapyeong, and Cheongpyeong near the Seoul metropolitan area, Hyundae Trade Motors believes protecting the environment is an essential responsibility for companies involved in the marine industry.
In addition to environmental volunteer activities, the company actively practices energy-saving measures within the workplace, including temporary power-saving operations, recycling programs, and the reuse of rigging package boxes and steel engine frames. Hyundae Trade Motors also participates in donation and relief efforts during natural disasters and national emergencies.
A representative from Hyundae Trade Motors stated,
“Protecting the oceans and natural environments where we operate is essential for the future of the marine leisure industry. We will continue our social contribution activities consistently so that we can contribute, even in a small way, to protecting both our local communities and the global environment.”
