The Unmanned Systems Division from Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., in conjunction with its business partner Digital Harvest and Washington State University performed some basic testing of using the RMAX unmanned helicopter to dry cherry trees. As harvest approaches rain can cause cherries to crack prior to being picked. Currently manned helicopters are utilized for drying; however, the RMAX may provide a safer and more cost effective solution.
