The Yamaha Indonesia team won an impressive 7th championship title at the 11th Yamaha Asean Cup Race held at the Sentul International Circuit in West Java, Indonesia on 6-7 December. The 7th title was achieved after their victories in the 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2013 events. For the overall team category, Yamaha Indonesia collected 188 points, with Yamaha Thailand second (162), and Malaysia third (134). The Yamaha Indonesia team’s victory came from strong performances in the class categories where they were runner up in the MT Class/Jupiter Z1 (80 points) and first in the Sport/R15 Class (108 points). In the rider category, Rheza Danica (Yamaha Indonesia) was the winner of the Sport/R15 Class (38 points) and Peerapong Luiboonpeng (Yamaha Thailand) was the winner of MT Class. In this year’s event, Yamaha also competed in the exhibition class with the YZF-R25, which was won by Yamaha Indonesia.
The 11th Yamaha Asean Cup Race theme was Rock & Race Part 2 with a new Racing Kit Market concept of combining racing and business, which allowed Yamaha vendors to sell their products during the event. Yamaha MotoGP riders, Jorge Lorenzo and Pol Espargaro were the guest stars of the event. The spectators also enjoyed entertainment from top Indonesian bands Noah, Geisha, Kotak, Endank Soekamti and Tipe-X. Yamaha also used the event to launch the new Mio M3 125.
