India Yamaha Motor celebrated World Environment Day on June 5 with great fanfare. Multiple events were organised to celebrate the day for creating awareness on environment protection thereby reiterating Yamaha’s commitment towards a greener world. A poster making and slogan writing competition was organised for all IYM employees, where the staffs participated with great enthusiasm. A tree plantation drive was conducted within the Surajpur and Faridabad plant premises led by CEO & MD Hiroyuki Suzuki San. Additionally, ‘Tulsi’ saplings were distributed to employees in both the plants for plantation at their residence and localities. IYM also partnered with district police and an NGO to distribute 700 tree saplings to the newly started Gautam Budh Nagar District Prison in a bid to help authorities turn the new prison to one of the greenest prisons in the country. All the saplings were cultivated by the horticulture team of IYM using eco-friendly techniques. Polythene sheets used to keep each sapling were made from reused plastic covers of Yamaha vehicles, while the soil was enriched via vermi-composting.
