Paper Crafts News
In October 1997, among the content presented on Yamaha Motor’s special website for the Tokyo Motor Show was the VMAX motorcycle in paper craft form.
Unlike content that existed only on a computer screen, this paper craft became a hit by bringing the digital world and the real world together, because the image files must be printed out and the item assembled by hand. And more than anything else, the precise level of detail—something not seen anywhere on the internet before that point—that went into recreating the VMAX model out of paper drew much attention.
Following the release of the VMAX as the first, Yamaha Motor Paper Crafts have become an independent part of the Yamaha website, with more than 70 different works released to date.
The catalog consists not only of motorcycles but also other works recreating scenes and more that can be enjoyed by families as well, such as the Rare Animals series and pop-up greeting card series. Thanks to the support of fans worldwide for 20 years, Yamaha Motor Paper Crafts have become a mainstay of Yamaha’s internet content.
The Ultra-Realistic series in particular takes the level of detail even higher to recreate the beauty of a motorcycle’s form with a quality not seen anywhere else, and it stands as a unique way to experience the spirit of Yamaha Motor’s Monozukuri approach of creating products with an emphasis on craftsmanship and excellence.
And at the end of this year,
we will release a special commemorative
Ultra-Realistic paper craft to
celebrate this 20th anniversary.
