This model followed the 125cc YA-3 as the 4th model of the YA series. Engineered for good drivability in the low- to mid-speed range, the engine newly adopted a rotary disc valve intake. Other features like a seesaw type rotary shift pedal and a telescopic front fork improved operability and comfort, and its exterior design was redone to give it a completely new sporty image.
