YZR250 (0WB9)

This 250cc factory machine featured further development of the single-axis crankshaft, 90-degree V-twin engine that had been under development from 1987. The use of a coupling-type balancer dampened vibration, and rigidly mounting the engine in the frame improved chassis rigidity. Supported by a superbly controllable engine and handling, in 1990, this machine won the 250cc World Championship title ridden by John Kocinski. Subsequently, its single-axis V-twin technology was fed back to the 1991 TZ250 production racer, the TZR250R production bike, and other models.

  • Engine type: Liquid-cooled, 2-stroke, V-twin, 249cm³
  • Crankcase reed intake valve
  • Transmission: 6-speed
  • Maximum power output: Over 58.8kW (80PS)
