This is the MotoGP factory machine that competed in the second season under the 800cc regulation. A review of the machine dimensions led to an optimization of the front-rear weight distribution, while the frame underwent improvements that optimized rigidity balance, etc., for improved handling. In the engine, the adoption of a pneumatic valve system and other improvements and revisions boosted maximum output and torque. This machine helped Yamaha win its second MotoGP Triple Crown (Rider, Manufacturer and Team titles) in the third year since its first.
