1965 Mate (U5)
(1965 / Production Model)
This was the first-generation "Mate," Yamaha Motor's best selling business-use motorcycle series. Adopting the innovative "Autolube" separate oil supply system, an automatic centrifugal clutch, an underbone frame that integrated everything from the steering head to the rear fender, and other features, it was a model popular for its practicality. The "Mate" model name was chosen from suggestions by the public and the TV commercial that repeatedly called out the name to spirited music was a hit at the time.
