This was a full model change of the big sport tourer FJ1100 model launched on the European market in 1984. It raised the maturity of the original model as a tourer by mounting an air-cooled DOHC in-line 4-cylinder engine scaled up to 1200cc on a high-rigidity lateral frame with Yamaha Motor’s unique vibration-reducing Orthogonal Mounting. The FJ1200A on display adopted a state-of-the-art ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) when it was re-released in Europe and Japan. The standard model was the FJ1200.
