Nurturing a Greener Tomorrow Through Employee Engagement
Environment and Sustainability continue to be key focus areas at Yamaha Motor India, supported by consistent efforts to build a greener future. Strengthening this commitment, the Chennai Plant, in collaboration with the EHS team, introduced "Grow Green" – an employee engagement initiative designed to encourage active participation in sustainability.
Launched in June 2025, Grow Green uniquely connects environmental responsibility with employee milestones by integrating tree plantation into monthly birthday celebrations. On the last Friday of every month, employees celebrating their birthdays come together to plant saplings, turning personal occasions into meaningful contributions to the environment.
The initiative has already led to the plantation of over 1,600 saplings, with a continued focus on nurturing and maintaining them to ensure long-term impact. Beyond supporting Yamaha’s carbon neutrality goals, Grow Green fosters teamwork, ownership, employee wellness, and a deeper connection with nature.
Starting June 2026, the initiative will be further enhanced with saplings tagged with employees’ names, strengthening a sense of belonging and accountability. Additionally, a dedicated Green Team formed under the employee engagement framework will drive sustainability initiatives both within and beyond the plant.
Through Grow Green, the Chennai Plant exemplifies how collective employee efforts can drive meaningful and lasting environmental change – one sapling at a time.
