Settling into Yamaha Family Life
Kate Delivers Her First Staff Kando Experience

When the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) returned to Sydney Motorsport Park for its annual night race, Yamaha Motor Australia once again transformed the occasion into a memorable Kando experience for staff, family and guests. With the circuit located just minutes from YMA’s Wetherill Park head office, staff were invited to enjoy top-level racing from a VIP suite overlooking pit lane, complete with behind-the-scenes access to the Yamaha Racing Team and its star riders.

The 2026 event also marked an important milestone, being the first Yamaha event delivered by YMA’s new National Events Manager – Land Mobility, Kate Hardman. Joining the company in January, Kate stepped into the role following the retirement of long serving events leader Barbara Murphy.

For Kate, the evening was both a professional and personal introduction to Yamaha’s family culture. Staff and guests soaked up the atmosphere of night racing while enjoying exclusive interviews with ASBK stars Mike Jones, JJ Nahlous and riders from the Yamaha supported support classes. A pit walk, lucky door prizes and close up views of the bikes added to the experience.

“Being a staff event makes it hugely important,” Kate said. “I wanted it to feel special and meaningful - for everyone, including me.”

With record staff attendance and the unique energy of night racing, the event once again proved a highlight on the Yamaha calendar. For Kate, it also marked the end of her settling in period, as she moved straight on to delivering the inaugural YAMAFEST the following morning – it’s full speed ahead in her Yamaha journey.
