IYM-Chennai Factory Marks a Decade
of Manufacturing Excellence

On 4th June 2025, India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. commemorated a significant milestone in its manufacturing journey with the completion of 10 years of operations at its Chennai Factory. This state-of-the-art facility, crucial for both domestic and global markets, marked the occasion by rolling out its 5 millionth two-wheeler, an Aerox 155 Version S.

The event was graced by esteemed guests from Global Yamaha Manufacturing, including Mr. Satohiko Matsuyama, Director, and Mr. Takahiro Imanishi, Manufacturing Head. Key management members from YMI-Group, along with employees from the Chennai Plant, also actively participated in the celebrations. During the address, YMI-Group Chairman Otani-san mentioned Chennai plant as one of Yamaha's most advanced manufacturing facilities globally and emphasized its crucial role for Yamaha worldwide as well. Matsuyama-san praised the Chennai Plant's exceptional capability, quality, and consistency in meeting global market demands.

Over the past decade, the Chennai plant has been serving both Indian customers and export markets. It currently produces Yamaha’s hybrid scooter range, including the RayZR 125 Fi and Fascino 125 Fi, as well as the performance-oriented Aerox 155 Version S. Additionally, the facility manufactures the FZ series, the Saluto range, and the Alpha scooter for export, underscoring its role in delivering Yamaha's trusted quality to diverse global markets that include Europe, Latin America, ASEAN, and beyond. Notably, spread across 177 acres, the plant exports more than 30% of the factory’s total output, highlighting its manufacturing strength and global relevance.
