YME Presents Race Like A Girl,
A New Series to Promote Equality
and Inclusion in Motorsports

May, 2025 | YME

At Yamaha Motor Europe (YME) we proud ourselves for promoting that racing is for everyone. We took the motto of this year’s International Women’s Day to “accelerate actions to gender equality” and produced a web series to bring to the spotlight the women competing at the 2025 FIM Women's Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR) in which Yamaha is the single manufacturer with the supply of the R7.

Race Like A Girl will feature a total of 6 episodes – each one celebrating the powerful stories of the riders competing at WorldWCR. The title is provocative because we want to break a stereotype: up until now, when someone says that a person does something “like a girl”, it has a negative connotation – as if that person is weak, or uncapable, or lacks a certain skill. This is what we want to break. Race Like A Girl is about having the strength, the focus and the discipline to be competing at the highest level. It’s about showing up and pushing boundaries, not in spite of being female, but because of it.

“At Yamaha we believe that motorsport should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their gender, ethnicity or background. We are proud to be the single manufacturer of the WorldWCR, but we want to take this championship further and tell the stories of these talented and ambitious women aboard our R7s. With Race Like A Girl, we want to take one more step towards positive change, as we grow our community and empower the next generation of female and male riders.” – Michael van Zomeren, Director Marketing & Motorsport, and Management Committee member at Yamaha Motor Europe N.V.

In addition to Yamaha’s focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, the web series also highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability, reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to foster a better future in motorsport and the wider mobility industry, while inspiring new generations to pursue their passion for motorsports or discover the joy of riding a motorcycle.
