Round 3 of the “Blue Ties”
Social Contribution Initiative
at Shizuoka Blue Revs Home Opening Match

December 21, 2024 | YMC

The Overseas Market Development Operations Business Unit (OMDO) collaborates with Shizuoka Blue Revs in the joint social contribution initiative “Blue Ties.” Round 3 of its activities took place at the home opening match of DIVISION 1 of the NTT Japan Rugby League One 2024-2025 on December 21st, 2024.

OMDO implements the Clean Water System in developing countries. In the Blue Ties initiative, we collect used sports equipment and other items from the visitors at rugby matches and send donated goods to those developing countries.

A booth was set up at the game venue, Yamaha Stadium, on this day, and rugby fans donated 564 items, including T-shirts, pants, caps, and spikes. We also introduced to visitors the previous activity, where the former Shizuoka Blue Revs players, KIYOHARA Sho and YOSHIZAWA Fumihiro, delivered the donated goods collected in Round 2 to the Republic of Kenya. Through interaction with the donors and visitors at the game, we created a perfect opportunity to not only raise awareness of the Blue Ties initiative, but also of the efforts by both Yamaha Motor and Shizuoka Blue Revs in solving social issues.

The donated goods collected at the match will be combined with the rugby balls and equipment that are no longer used by the Shizuoka Blue Revs and the women's rugby team “Azalea Seven.” All of these goods will be delivered to recipient countries when we send our team there for the installation and maintenance of the Clean Water System.
