Sponsors and Racing Staff Celebrate 3rd Victory at Suzuka 8hours
Celebrating its 3rd consecutive victory at the Suzuka 8-Hour Endurance Road Race held on July 30, YMC held a party in Hamamatsu City inviting sponsors, suppliers, and racing and YMC staff.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Takaaki Kimura, Executive Vice President of YMC, thanked all those who supported the team and asked everyone to enjoy the party, share the joy of victory, and reenergize. Mr. Koichi Tsuji, General Manager of Motor Sports Development Division, in his speech, looked back on the factory team’s history since its reestablishment in 2015 with the new YZF-R1 and said, “We were under a lot of pressure during this year in particular, but we managed to achieve our 3rd consecutive victory. Thanks to the help and support by all the guests today.” After congratulatory words from guests, a sake-barrel-opening ceremony took place, where a wooden sake barrel was hit open with a wooden mallet held by Mr. Kimura, representatives of the sponsors, the winning rider Mr. Katsuyuki Nakasuga, and the team manager Mr. Wataru Yoshikawa, to commemorate the very first achievement in Yamaha’s racing history. The people involved with the team also shared behind-the-scene stories in the talk show.
Mr. Yoshikawa also introduced the members of supporting staff one by one, bringing light to their hard work. Mr. Nakasuga thanked everyone and expressed his next goal, “What I want to do now is to leave a good record in the All Japan Road Race Championship. I will develop a high-speed machine, leading the team to another winning, no matter who the rider is.”
The party ended with a festive and friendly mood, leaving those involved with the Yamaha racing team with renewed ties and hopes for competitions to come.
