Kids' Monozukuri Classroom Held Jointly with Yamaha Corporation
Yamaha Corporation and Yamaha Motor Company jointly conducted a Kids' Monozukuri (engineering, manufacturing and marketing) Classroom in the Communication Plaza again this year. Marking its third year, the classroom took "Two Yamahas, One Passion" as its theme and provided an opportunity for hands-on Monozukuri there making things related to the two companies' lines of business. The event was aimed at enabling children to experience for themselves the fun of Monozukuri.
The program for the day comprised two hands-on parts related to each company's areas of operation: "Learning about the Wonders of Boats" conducted by YMC, and "Let's Make a Kalimba Thumb Piano" by Yamaha Corporation.
The children used familiar items to conduct experiments to examine buoyancy and resistance and learn why iron boats can float and how fast boats can go, and then tried building boats of their own. Other activities included racing the handmade boats to find out the best time and putting on a musical performance using instruments made by hand using scrap materials from instrument manufacturing.
