Yamaha Products See Major Use in Marine Security at the Ise-Shima G7 Summit
The Group of Seven (G7) Summit was held May 26 and 27, 2016, on Kashiko Island, Shima, Mie Prefecture. Due to terror threats at locations around the world, security measures of the largest scale ever were put in place on land, sea, and air around Kashiko Island. As part of this, products from Yamaha played a big role in marine security patrols against possible terrorists.
Yamaha Products in Use at the Summit
Marine security operations were positioned as a vital mission at this summit, and the Mie Prefectural Police deployed two jet patrol craft and three marine jets from Yamaha, with the Japan Coast Guard deploying 30 rigid-hull inflatable boats equipped with Yamaha outboard motors and two Yamaha marine jets.
The jet patrol craft in particular received a high degree of attention, and received national coverage by NHK and others from a wide range of media (including television, periodicals, and Internet news services). Our products earned high acclaim from the director of the National Police Agency Security Bureau and other police officials, which is sure to provide a boost with regard to future security operations as well.
