Opening of the CYMNG (Nigeria Plant) and Showroom
Nigerian joint venture CFAO Yamaha Nigeria Ltd. (CYMNG) celebrated the inception of its new plant and showroom at a grand opening ceremony in the state of Lagos on May 13, 2016.
Attending the event were the state governor of Lagos and over 200 persons, including dealers and others, with YMC President Hiroyuki Yanagi announcing plans of action for the Yamaha Motor Group and CYMNG's Managing Director Olivier Levigne and Deputy Managing Director Hisashi Fujii describing manufacturing and sales policies at CYMNG.
Production of YAMAHA motorcycle in Nigeria had been started in 1980, but a downturn in the market led to the company withdrawing from production in 2005, thereafter importing motorcycles from Japan and India and selling them through local exclusive agents.
With the grand opening ceremony, CYMNG succeeded in communicating the company's reentry into the Nigerian market in a powerful way -- not just with motorcycles, but with a total Yamaha line-up that also includes marine products and generators.
