April 19, 2016 | YMC

Toru Sasaki of the Engine Manufacturing Section was awarded the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize for Creativity for 2016, and received an award certificate from the director of the Shizuoka Prefectural Economy and Industry Department in a ceremony at the Shizuoka Prefecture Government Office. The Creativity Prize recognizes persons who contribute to enhancing and improving worksite technology or skills or otherwise raise work productivity through outstanding creative measures, and is a program that has been carried out since 1960.

The mechanism for preventing dropped loads from conveyance carts that Mr. Sasaki devised is one that automatically links the cart and the ship-out lane when the engine is moved from the cart to the ship-out lane during engine shipping. This improvement succeeded in eliminating dropped engines and risk of injury. The implementation of the mechanism's elements and the safety-related aspects earned high acclaim, culminating in the award.
