YA-2

As successor to the YA-1, the output of the 2-stroke single-cylinder engine was increased by approx. 1 PS and mounted on a newly designed pressed backbone frame. The un-sprung units featured a bottom-linked type front fork and a swinging arm type rear suspension that gave the model a completely new look. Its unique styling that stressed lightness and power won Yamaha its first Good Design Award ever for a motorcycle.
