IWATA, December 23, 2019 - Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo:7272) announced today that it will launch the 2020 model Fascino scooter in India in January 2020. Powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder, 2-valve, 125cc BLUE CORE1 engine, the Fascino features an attractive design, lightweight body, ease of handling, and strong fuel economy. Since its launch in 2015, the Fascino has become popular among urban Indian men and women who are sensitive to fashion and trends.

As well as meeting the new BS62 emission standards taking effect in India from April next year, the 2020 model Fascino responds to the demands of urban users for riding comfort and sophisticated styling, further honing the model's attractiveness.
Main features include 1) a 125cc BLUE CORE engine (compared to the 113cc engine in the current model) which delivers both a strong feeling of performance and excellent fuel economy while meeting BS6 standards, 2) the Smart Motor Generator system, which contributes to quieter starting, lighter weight, and a more compact size, 3) the Stop & Start System3 to reduce fuel consumption, 4) body lines and surfaces which create a chic silk-smooth shine, and 5) a newly-designed lightweight frame which enables more nimble handling.

The Indian motorcycle market has a total annual demand of approximately 22 million units4, of which the scooter category accounts for at least 30%. The 110cc class has been the mainstream scooter capacity to date, but the trend to increasing size has seen demand in the 125cc class growing. In response, the Fascino has also been increased to 125cc from the new model.
Manufacture and sale are to be carried out by our group company India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM).
